CVGE — Chicago Footwork in its raw form.
Chicago Footwork expression, competition, and culture at first glance appear chaotic. The longer you watch, the more you realize that nothing is random. The speed is overwhelming, but beneath it is control. It was built in Chicago. It grew in basements, on sidewalks, and in rooms where the focus was to be understood.
Footwork is often misunderstood as speed, but speed is only the surface. What truly defines it is timing and control. It is the ability to break rhythm and return to it without losing direction. It is the awareness of when to push forward and when to hold back. Every dancer brings something personal into the circle. Their background, their experiences, and their identity all show up in how they move. That is why no two styles are the same, even when they share the same foundation.
Chicago created this.
And even now, as more people begin to pay attention, its foundation remains the same. It is not shaped by an audience. It is shaped by the people who continue to step into the circle and add to it. Captured through my lens to show what words can’t fully explain. Chicago the world is watching.
